How Attractive are Public Transport Interchanges? A Cross Comparison of Two European Terminals

As the world becomes more urbanized, there is a strong need for urban public transport to provide sustainable alternative solutions against private-vehicle usage. However, opportunities seamless journeys through are still limited and properly designed operated interchanges vital. The present paper investigates perceptions users' level of satisfaction when using New Railway Station Thessaloniki in Greece Riga International Coach Terminal Latvia, terms services provision station's operation. In total, 36 indicators were tested, grouped eight quality factors, namely travel information, wayfinding time movement, access, comfort convenience, station attractiveness, safety security emergency situation handling. Attitudinal surveys implemented determine key performance factors that affect travelers' two terminals. Data collected on-line questionnaires elaborated descriptive inferential statistics, including Mann-Whitney two-sample U-testing assess differences between samples variables measured on 5-point Likert scale, Spearman bivariate correlations measure strength association multiple regression analyses examine effect selected attributes general travelers.
